WARP ARTIST VILLAGE 2023 / OPEN CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
May 12 – 13 - 14th 2023 in Middelburg (Netherlands)
Contemporary Art Platform WARP based in Sint-Niklaas (BE) organises the 2023 edition of the ‘Artist Village’ (portfoliodays) in collaboration with CBK Zeeland in Middelburg (Netherlands) on May 12, 23, 14. The core of this event are one-on-one conversations with experienced and emphatic professionals from the international art scene in the Oostkerk. Even at more advanced stages of ones career, it is important to have mentorship and support in a professional capacity. The range of conversations and feedback will provide you with a whole set of ideas and ways for further developing your practice. The final goal is to create a sustainable network.
WARP started organising portfoliodays, -weekends or the ‘Arstist Village’ as soon as 2007. In most of the cases it’s the beginning of a relation on longterm with artists (and commentators). This implies that we are looking for artists who want to stay in touch and engage in this network. Previous year we started a post-portfolio-programme with ‘socratic conversations’ (in Dutch with artist-philosopher Aäron Willem as our Socrates). We will also select artists to participate at our summerexhibition at WARP (August 2023) and you can also apply for a micro-residency at our premises.
The call is open but we focus on emerging artists with an international horizon in mind. 16 Artists will be selected and invited. Participation requires a fee of € 300 per participant, which includes all 9 one-on-one-converstations with our ‘commentators’, meals, beverages, lodging at hotel and other scheduled activities. Travel costs have to be covered by the participants, transport from Antwerp to Middelburg (and back) will be foreseen. According to the arrival and departure of flighs we try to host you before and after this event at WARP in Sint-Niklaas (BE).
UPDATE:
Wow! Take the right decision and apply for the WARP-Artist Village (portfolio-dialogues) in Middelburg. Thanks to organisation ‘Theatre of the Wrong Decisions’ every selected artist will get a sponsorship. We are able to diminish the fee for artist with 210 euros. So to participate at these three days (private dialogues with international professionals, food, drinks, sleeping, other activities) you only have to gather 90 euros. The WARP-Artist Village is an unique and cheap opportunity to deepen your art practice and to broaden your professional network.
On top, we now are also assured we can invite you to participate at the WARP-summerexhibition and arrange the transport of your art pieces.
Thanks a lot ‘Theatre of the Wrong Decisions’ - with artist and our do-gooder, Ingrid Rollema, behind this organisation.
