SMART CITIES: FROM SAN FRANCISCO TO SINT-NIKLAAS | 9 FEBRUARY
Christel De Maeyer is researcher new technology at the Artevelde academy. She recently published her book ‘Chasing the Flowers. Does gentrification feed an anti-tech attitude in San Francisco and the Silicon Valley?'
She presents opportunities on how to use high tech infrastructure to optimilize our daily lives in a social engaged way.
Bart Van Lokeren is urbanist at the City of Sint-Niklaas. He gives us insights on how a new model will be implemented to create more space for nature into the city heart of Sint-Niklaas.
Kristof Vrancken is an artist and works at the LUCA School of Arts. He is interested in 'forgotten zones', for exemple the poisoned site of Ford Genk. Using the natural flora that grows on to the formal industrial zone, he makes unusual photographs. He wants us to look closer on how the growth of plants tell us something about our environment.
